Family Workshop

Artful Activities for Families

4 & 5 August 2017

A One or two day course for families with children aged 5 and above Families will learn together developing new drawing and printmaking skills as well as learning about some of Indonesia’s amazing wildlife! Families will be able to learn drawing and printmaking skills and take home a concertina style book or a Balinese style kite.

Included in the cost of the workshop is access to Udayana Lodge’s lovely swimming pool as well as meals


Adult Workshop

Birdsong and butterflies

7 & 8 August 2017

Art Retreat at beautiful Kingfisher EcoLodge A two day workshop retreat to connect with your inner artist, learn and develop new skills and build on old ones.No experience is necessary but those with experience are welcome.We will use the beautiful gardens of Udyayana Lodge as inspiration will first discover new ways to draw and record
what you find on creative and mindful walks around the gardens.

Meryl Wilson, owner of Kingfisher Lodge botanist and author and illustrator of ‘101 Butterflies of the Lowland and Oriental Region’ will also be on hand to help learn about and identify the wonderful plants, butterflies and birds of the gardens.

We will explore different ways of drawing, including using magnifiers to create images we can use as prints using the plants and wildlife of the gardens as a theme.

I day family workshop: 1 adult +one child @ $90
Additional family members @ $40 pax per day

Non residential:  2 days (one night)
One adult plus one child sharing a room and including all meals
2 days inc. accommodation and all meals: $248

Residential: (Single room): $209 covers cost of 2 day workshop + dinner

Alexandra Robb

Alexandra Robb is an artist and environmental educator from London. She works with The London Wildlife Trust (www.wildlondon.org.uk) managing a small nature reserve in suburban Twickenham. She spent time Bali as an artist-in-residence at The Green School near Ubud for 5 weeks in 2011. Alex first fell In love with Indonesia in 1997, when she joined a scientific expedition to Komodo Island and Flores. On her way through she stayed at The Udayana Kingfisher Eco Lodge and has been coming back ever since. Alex has stayed at all the Lodges of Ecolodges Indonesia and has pioneered a successful Art Tour based at The Kelimutu Crater Lakes Eco Lodge in May 2013, which included painting, sketching and printmaking components.

Meryl Wilson

Meryl Wilson is one of the Founders of Ecolodges Indonesia and has lived in Indonesia since 1981 based in Java and Bali but visiting many parts of this wonderful archipelago nation. Of the six lodges, Meryl designed three with unique eco features using prevailing wind direction, rain water, solar energy and reed bed recycling techniques. She has a thorough knowledge of many of the cultural aspects of societies around our lodges in Flores. Meryl works mainly water colours and pencil. She painted all the 101 Butterflies and their life cycle stages in her book “101 Butterflies of Lowland Indonesia”. She was a key member of the first Art Tour held at The Kelimutu Crater Lakes Eco Lodge.
